Sales Representative: Technical Security Sales

Revenue Flexible hours Remote

Most people who open an account never run a single scan. Nobody has ever asked them why.

Other names for this work: Account Executive or Inside Sales Representative.

Malwagon is hiring: Sales Representative. The role stays open until it is filled, and an application is one email to [email protected] with SLS-01 in the subject.

You are the first commercial contact most people have with the platform: inbound from the free tier, outbound to the security teams who do this work daily, and the demo in between. The demo is a live detonation, not a slide deck: the buyer brings a sample, you submit it, and you read the report with them while the machine is still running.

That means running it without an engineer beside you. Not reverse engineering, but knowing what a process tree, a packet capture and a rule match are, and why it matters that the telemetry is taken underneath the guest rather than inside it.

Most of what you sell is one lever: internet egress for the detonation VM and the network evidence that comes with it, which a free account structurally cannot have. Many conversations and a product the buyer can try before you ever call.

What you would own

  • Inbound qualification and the demo, end to end.
  • Outbound to SOC, MSSP and incident response teams, with the list and the message you build yourself.
  • The written record of why people do not buy, fed back into the product every week.
  • Free account to paid conversion, and the first upgrades that came out of a conversation rather than out of the pricing page.

What you need

  • You have sold a technical product to technical buyers and can demonstrate it yourself.
  • You can read an analysis report well enough to explain what it shows and what it does not.
  • You write clearly. Most of this job is written, not spoken.
  • You are comfortable prospecting from an empty list.

Useful, not required

  • Time spent in or next to a SOC, or selling into one.

First 90 days

Every free-tier account worth a conversation contacted, and the first upgrades that came from one of those conversations.

Mid, and 100% remote. Flexible hours: no fixed schedule and no required overlap. A formal qualification is not required either, so the list of what you need is the whole requirement.

How to apply for SLS-01, Sales Representative

By email, to one address, read by the person you would work with.

[email protected]

Subject line: SLS-01 - Sales Representative. The link above fills it in for you.

What you send is read by the person who would work with you, kept for six months from our last message to you, never shared with anyone and never published. Ask and we delete it sooner. The full candidate data notice says the rest.

Send

  • The reference code in the subject line.
  • A CV, a profile, or a page that shows the work. One of those, not all three.
  • A few lines on which part of the role you would take first, and why.
  • Links to anything public you are proud of: code, rules, write-ups, talks.

Do not send

  • A date of birth, a photograph, a marital status, a gender, a national identity or social security number, or a home address.
  • Anything about health, religion, ethnicity, politics or union membership. We will not read it and we do not want to hold it.
  • Scans of identity documents, diplomas or payslips. If any of that is ever needed it is at an offer, not at an application.
  • A referee's name, number or address. That is somebody else's personal data and it is not yours to hand over; we will ask you for it if we get that far.
  • Archives, macro-enabled documents or executables. Send a link instead - this mailbox belongs to a malware analysis company and attachments are treated accordingly.
  1. You write to us

A short mail with the reference code in the subject, a CV or a profile, and a few lines on which part of the role you would take first. No cover letter.

  2. We answer

Within ten working days, either way. The person who reads your mail is the person you would work with, not a recruiter and not a screening model.

  3. One technical conversation

Ninety minutes about work you have already done, and about a real problem from the role. For the engineering roles you may bring something you built instead; we would rather read it than set a puzzle.

  4. A paid exercise, if you want one

Scoped to a day, paid at your rate, and optional on both sides. It exists so that neither of us has to decide on an interview alone.

The other open roles

What happens to what you send is set out under candidate data, next to the other open roles.
